HOLY CRAP the sound of it the looks and the power!
basically a 3.3L with a OS Giken DOHC cylinder head. THis is perfection!
I have read $30k just for the head.

It is amazing...
...and looks fantastic.
But I have to ask... if this weren’t a demonstrator car for OS Giken’s wares, why pay $30K+ for a cylinder head, rather than just using a large displacement, high-compression atmospheric version of the Nissan RB engine?

Because engine porn and insane straight-6 redline.
Also because vintage race motor. It’d be like Chevy re-offering a ZL1 427ci aluminum block for your C3 Vette or 1st-gen Camaro: extremely expensive, easily outdone for less by a more modern LS7, but nothing else will feel more natural than a period-correct engine.

This thing is sex in engine form. I saw it on Speedhunters and could stare at it for hours.

RB-series is an inline-6, and built as the successor of the L-series engine, smaller, lighter, and DOHC from the drawing board.
OS Giken cylinder heads are works of art, and the gear-driven cam timing is amazing, but lossy and loud, and prone to wear if not impeccably lubricated.
Again, I am not knocking it at all... But an RB30DE with high compression pistons, perhaps cylinder heads from a smaller displacement variant, and individual throttle bodies and a header would not be that far off of this... for probably half the money in the engine bay.

You’re right, a RB30 would be a better motor as Rocky Auto has already shown .
But some people just want to hear the sounds of an older and rarer engine that was seen in old race Zs, it’s strictly for the Rule of Cool

Yeah not cheap. But I would do it over a new car.
